Private Day Tour from Munich
Smugglers’ Path
For centuries, smugglers crossed the German-Austrian border on hidden paths over the Alps, carrying coffee, cheese, alcohol and cigarettes.
On our Smugglers’ Path private hiking tour we will follow their steps. This is an easy tour, mostly through forests with nice views of the Alps. We will of course cross a border. And at the end a wild river awaits us, together with a pilgrimage chapel and a wonderful guesthouse that serves refreshments and hearty Bavarian food. A beautiful hike for the whole family.

Ideas of what to expect of our Smugglers’ Path hiking tour from Munich
- This is an easy hiking tour. Nevertheless, it does go up and down, and partly follows forest paths. You need good walking shoes, at least sneakers or runners—please don’t show up in sandals or heels. You should be in good enough shape to manage short ascents and descents, uneven trails and a hike of around 1.5 hours. If you have any concerns about this, please contact us.
- Because it’s not long, this is a perfect hike to combine with any other activity in the area, like going up a mountain on a funicular for a summit coffee and a Kaiserschmarrn with marvelous views. Or you could complement with it our Herrenchiemsee Palace private tour.
