Private Day Tour from Munich

Nuremberg

Nuremberg symbolizes medieval might like no other—a fact the Nazis did not scruple to use for their propaganda.

An imposing imperial castle, a huge market square and massive churches bear witness to Nuremberg’s might. The city saw the birth of German Renaissance and of many world moving inventions over the centuries. During our Nuremberg private day tour we will hear about them, but also learn why the city is synonym of Nazi Party Rallies, the Nuremberg Laws and lastly the Nuremberg Trials.

Ideas for our Nuremberg tour from Munich

  • Nuremberg is well over 2 hours driving away from Munich (depending on traffic), which makes this a full day tour.
  • A visit of Nuremberg is clearly divided into two periods. One is the Middle Ages, centered around the old city, the churches, the castle, Dürer’s Renaissance house… This part is done mostly by walking within the old city walls. The other period is the Third Reich, staged further away from the center, around Zeppelin’s Field. This is mostly driving, although a bit of walking should be done to reach at least the top of the stage where Hitler held his speeches during the rallies.
  • How long you dedicate to each of these parts and to the Nuremberg Trials Memorial is up to you. But one thing is sure: you need to try the Nuremberg sausages—at least 6!

PRACTICALITIES

  • The center of Nuremberg is very much pedestrianized, often with cobble-stones and one steep road to the castle. The Zeppelin Field tribune is in quite a state of disrepair. Wear comfortable shoes!
  • If you are also interested in our Rothenburg private tour, we would advice you to spend one night in one of both (we recommend Rothenburg).
  • For more history about the Third Reich, have a look at our private tour to the Eagle’s Nest or the Third Reich Tour in Munich.
