Private Day Tour from Munich
Salzburg
Salzburg, the city of Mozart and the Sound of Music, with its medieval fortress and its baroque cathedral, offers something for every taste.
Salzburg manages to join in a very small historical center the exuberance of baroque architecture with the quaintness of medieval lanes and courtyards. There is a reason why the UNESCO declared it a World Heritage Site! On our Salzburg private day tour we will hear of the importance of salt in the shaping of the city, of power-hungry bishops and of music-loving citizens, while taking in the beauty surrounding us.

Ideas for our Salzburg day tour from Munich
- Salzburg is in Austria; barely so, but we have to cross a border. It usually takes us something over 2 hours to get there from Munich.
- The center is small, walkable and full of interesting stories. We would definitely dedicate some time to a walking tour! Whether the emphasis lies in Mozart, history or the Sound of Music is up to you.
- You can enjoy lunch on a terrace over the city, or in the oldest restaurant, or in a small family-led place, or just grab a sausage and a pretzel (wait till you see them!) in the market. The options are endless.
- In the afternoon just stroll through the beautiful city: enjoy a coffee & cake in a traditional Coffee House, visit a Mozart’s Museum, loose your way in the multiple passageways (the through-houses), buy something special in one of the many boutiques and art galleries.
- Of course, another possibility would be to drive out to Hellabrunn Palace and visit its amazing (and funny) gardens. Or leave the city altogether and enjoy a boat ride in the scenic Lake District.
PRACTICALITIES
- Don’t forget your passport!
- Very close to Salzburg is Berchtesgaden; if you are interested in our Eagle’s Nest private tour, we would recommend spending the night in the area.
