Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial

The concentration camps in Nazi Germany are part of our nation’s darkest history. The one in Dachau was among the first concentration camps to open and became a model for what was to come.

Dachau was the place where the organization and rules for the concentration camps were shaped, and where the people that would murder millions of people in the death camps were trained. The Dachau concentration camp private tour won’t leave you with happy memories. But as part of our history, we consider it a necessity to try and explain the complexity of the terror system and the developments that made it possible.

ALL OUR TOURS ARE PRIVATE AND THUS HIGHLY CUSTOMIZABLE

Approach to our Dachau concentration camp tour

  • The former concentration camp is around 40 minutes driving from Munich. The whole tour until you are back in Munich will last around 4 hours. If you do it in the morning, we would recommend not leaving later than 9.30 a.m, in the afternoon 1.30 p.m.
  • All our tour guides are licensed by the memorial’s education department. Unless you wish differently, your guide will pick you up at your hotel and drop you back off where you want to.
  • If you are really interested, we would suggest including the Herbertshausen shooting range in your tour, where the SS shot thousands of Soviet POWs. This would make the tour last at least 1 hour longer.
  • We would recommend you not making many plans after this visit. Go to the English Garden, sit in a beer garden… give yourself room for everything you’ve heard to sink in. This is not just another visit to tick off the bucket list.
